Fans of Game of Thrones may get their early Christmas and New Year’s gift in the form of a trailer for the new season of Game of Thrones that hits the floor in April 2016. Several pictures posted on Reddit, Twiiter and our go-to GoT news site “Watchers on the Wall” say that the production crew has officially ended shooting for the sixth season this week. One of the noteworthy pictures we can’t get over is of actor Kristofer Hivju (who plays Tormund, the bear lover) with the setting in Magheramorne Quarry. This quarry in Northern Ireland is home to the Castle Black.
Jon Snow or no Jon Snow?
Spoilers ahead… Sixth season is probably the most-hyped season of the series because viewers aren’t sure if their beloved character Jon Snow is really dead. Back in October, pictures taken by some sneaky photographers had revealed that Kit Harington (who plays Jon Snow) was seen filming. While this might have given fans some relief, it could well be scenes as flashbacks. Game of Thrones officially broke their no-flashbacks-ever rule when they aired the Cersei flashback in the fifth season. Fast forward to the next week in October, Kit was again seen filming in the same location as Carice Van Houten (who plays Melisandre, the red priestess). When Jon was stabbed last season, fans had made this connection that Melisandre might somehow bring back Jon to life. They also went as far as saying that they would forgive her for what she did to Stannis and his daughter Shireen. But what about his body? Will Alliser Thorne not burn him? Will the mutineers not display his head on a spike? For a group of guys who live off killing, I thought they should clean up. But with the smuggler Ser Davos in the house, it is also entirely possible that he might save Jon for some Melisandre-y rituals. Since the fate of Jon Snow has not been revealed even in the books, both show-watchers and the book readers have absolutely no idea about the fate of Jon Snow. Meanwhile, another fan theory goes that Jon will somehow become a “dead” and eventually become a White walker. While that somehow seems possible, it goes out of the show runners’ stance on having a central “hero” character. Don’t get me wrong, I like Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke for the hero part they have been portraying, but Jon was an all-rounder.
Brandon Stark Will Fly…
As we saw in the Game of Thrones Season 6 teaser released earlier this month, Brandon Stark is making a comeback this season. He and his partner, Hodor, were not seen in the fifth season – and he now has (access to) superpowers. He is officially a warg, so he can see the stuffs that might be happening, that might have happened, or that might happen in the future. What if….! What if, all the things that happened to Jon Snow was just a part of Bran’s dream? Is it not possible that the season starts with Bran suddenly waking up to this nightmare dream he had that his brother Jon was being stabbed? After all, he just saw Jon and the brotherhood fight the mutineers in Crastor’s Keep (shown in season four). Although he saw Jon, he couldn’t meet him. New Characters, Old Plots A new character is said to be introduced, played by the actor Ian McShane, who reveals that he will be helping in bringing back a dead character. While your first name might be Jon, it will either be The Hound or Lady Stoneheart (if at all possible). Let’s see what the new season brings to us.
